The GENERATIONS Early Years follows the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) Early Years framework, inspired by Finnish educational philosophy, and thoughtfully adapted for our K1 to K3 learners aged 3 to 5.
The PYP Early Years features six subject areas and six transdisciplinary themes, integrated through units of inquiry. Each fosters conceptual understanding, skills, and the IB learner profile characteristics.

IB Learner Profile
The IB Learner Profile features ten characteristics that our whole community embraces inside and outside the classroom. We support all members of our learning community to be:
- Inqueries
- Knowledgeable
- Thinkers
- Communicators
- Principled
- Open-minded
- Caring
- Risk-takers
- Balanced
- Reflective
Embodying these characteristics makes us all better students and better people.
Young children are encouraged to explore, question, and discover the world around them in an environment that celebrates curiosity, creativity, and individuality. The programme’s trilingual focus – embracing English, Portuguese, and Chinese – with native-speaker teachers in all 3 languages equips learners with essential communication skills while fostering cultural understanding from the very start.
The Early Years curriculum nurtures our youngest children through an inquiry-based, play-centred approach aligned with the PYP framework. It fosters holistic development of social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills in a supportive, transdisciplinary environment that emphasises practical learning. From K1 through K3, students engage in dynamic units of inquiry that build conceptual understanding and essential skills, such as independence and collaboration. Classrooms emphasise exploration through small-group activities and hands-on experiences tailored to each child’s developmental stage.

Finnish-Inspired Methodology
We underpin our PYP Early Years with Finnish-inspired teaching, prioritising emotional well-being, resilience, and a passion for learning alongside academic growth. This blend promotes balance between high achievement and life skills, creating seamless transitions to later primary years.
Motor Skills Development
Fine and gross motor skills emerge naturally through hands-on activities such as building, drawing, and movement games, building coordination, strength, and confidence essential for later learning.
